A writing festival is returning to the South Coast with the aim of promoting social mobility and connecting people through creative writing.
The Bournemouth Writing Festival, running from April 24 to 26, is set to host talks, workshops, masterclasses, panels, poetry and children’s activities in a variety of different locations across Bournemouth.
Organisers said the festival hub will be based at Pavilion Dance which will also host three of it's talk sessions. Other venues that will be hosting the writing festival events are Patch, Palace Court Theatre, Marsham Court Hotel, the Russell-Cotes Museum and Horseshoe Common.

Throughout the weekend events will be led by Dominic Wong, a self-published author and director of both the Bournemouth Writing and, Romance Writing Festival.
Mr Wong first opened a writing festival in Bournemouth in 2023 with the aim of including communities that he believes often go unheard in traditional writing festival settings.

Organisers said the events community led approach comes from a well documented problem within Britain's literary festivals, a lack in diversity.
Over the years, the festival has hosted specialist workshops for people experiencing homelessness, adults living with dementia, children, young carers and adults with learning needs to provide them with a platform for inclusion in the literary industry.
