A busy Bournemouth road will be closed for three weeks as upgrades are carried out.

Parking will also be prohibited at all times, and no loading or unloading will be allowed.

The closure is scheduled to begin on March 23, and is expected to remain in place until April 13.

However, BCP Council has stated that the closure may be "amended" or "extended" if the work overruns or weather delays the operations.

The council has explained that the road will be closed to "facilitate highway improvement works".

Full emergency services access will be maintained, and access to properties will remain depending on site safety.

A diversion will be in place, with northbound traffic directed to use Holdenhurst Road, St Paul’s Road, Oxford Road, and Lansdowne Road, while southbound traffic will be directed to use Oxford Road, St Paul’s Road (westbound), St Paul’s Road (eastbound), Bournemouth Station Roundabout, Holdenhurst Road, and Lansdowne Road.
