Co-op food will permanently close a store in Dorset due to “sustained market changes and operating cost increases”.
Southern Co-op has confirmed its store located at Salisbury Road, Blandford, will be closing on February 24, 2026.
A spokesperson for the store said the closure forms part of Co-op's wider efforts to optimise its store portfolio and strengthen long-term operating model given external challenges and competition.
A spokesperson said: “It in no way reflects the dedication or performance of colleagues.
“Affected colleagues have been informed and we will work closely with them to explore opportunities to transfer to other Southern Co-op stores/roles wherever possible.
“While this may not be feasible for everyone, we are committed to supporting all impacted colleagues throughout this process.”
They said Co-op is grateful for the support of its loyal customers.
The spokesperson added: “We would like to thank our customers for their loyalty and apologise for any disappointment caused as a result of the decision to close this store.”
