AN INQUEST has opened after a man was found unresponsive at his home in Bournemouth.

A man in his 80s was found unresponsive at his home address in Bournemouth.

Brendan Allen, area coroner for Dorset, formally held an inquest into the death of 84-year-old Ralph William Hampton at Dorset Coroner's Court on Wednesday January 14.

The court heard that Mr Hampton was born in Birmingham on June 16, 1941, and at the time of his death he was retired and residing at an address in Wellington Road, Bournemouth.

Coroner's officer, Chloe Day, told the court that Mr Hampton had been found unresponsive at his home on January 6.

Paramedics attended and confirmed him to be deceased at the scene and police have confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

A post-mortem examination was undertaken by Dr Muhaisen at Holly Tree Lodge on January 9.

Dr Muhaisen concluded Mr Hampton's provisional cause of death to be hypothermia with severe coronary artery atherosclerosis.

Mr Allen has adjourned the hearing for a full inquest to take place on June 22 at 2pm, also requesting statements from Mr Hampton's family, GP and social services if he was known to them.
