A FOOD waste recycling collection service will be rolled out to Poole this spring.
From April 6, 2026, BCP Council will be introducing the new service to homes across the Poole area.
A kitchen caddy and outside food recycling bin will be delivered to properties along with instructions on how to use them.
Residents will need to empty food waste such as plate scrapings, peelings and tea bags into the new kitchen caddy.
When the caddy is full, residents will need to empty the contents into their new outside food waste recycling bin ready for collection.
In a leaflet sent to residents, BCP Council said: “We want to recycle more and waste less, and every household can play a part.
“Separating your food waste helps to cut down the amount of waste that ends up in landfill or other disposal sites – reducing greenhouse gas emissions which have a harmful impact on the environment.”
Food waste will be collected weekly on the same day as rubbish and recycling.
Food waste includes uneaten food and plate scrapings, dairy products such as cheese and eggs, bread, cakes, pastries, raw meat, cooked meat and bones.
It also includes tea bags, coffee grounds, cooked vegetables, peelings, fish, pasta, rice and beans.
