A WING FOILER was rescued in Poole Harbour after getting into difficulty near Stakes Buoy.

On December 6, around 11.20am, Poole Coastguard rescue team had a call out.

The alarm was raised when the casualty, a wing foiler who had got onto difficulties just off Stakes Buoy, managed to signal to a passing vessel, Solent Scene.

Solent Scene issued a mayday relay to the joint rescue coordination centre (JRCC).

Both Poole RNLI and HM Coastguard were also called.

The RNLI lifeboat recovered the individual and their equipment and returned them to the lifeboat station.

Coastguard crews were diverted to the station and, after confirming the casualty had no injuries or medical concerns, transported them to their departure point in Hamworthy so they could collect their vehicle and return for their gear.

With all information passed to the JRCC, coastguard teams were stood down and returned to station.
