A MAN has been charged with burglary and driving offences after an incident in Shaftesbury resulted in an estimated cost of £11,000 in stolen items and property damage.
Following an investigation into an alleged burglary in Shaftesbury, a man in his 40s has been charged and will appear in court.
It was reported that in the early hours of October 26, entry was gained to a store in Longmead and a 'large' quantity of cigarettes were stolen.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Between 12.18am and 1.37am on Sunday 26 October 2025, entry was gained to Central convenience store in Longmead.
"It is reported that a large quantity of cigarettes were stolen and significant damage was caused during the break-in.
"The total cost of the stolen items and the reported damage is approximately £11,000.
"Following enquiries by the Investigation Resolution Centre, a 40-year-old local man was identified and subsequently located by officers in a vehicle on Wednesday 5 November 2025."
Following work by the Volume Crime Team, the man was charged with burglary and driving offences and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Thursday November 6.
