POOLE Coastguard was dispatched in the early hours after a vessel in Poole Quay lost engine power and crew members suffered from severe sea sickness.

The Coastguard was requested by the joint rescue coordination centre to meet Swanage Lifeboat Station's all weather lifeboat after it attended to the vessel in Poole Quay Boat Haven.

Passengers and crew aboard the boat were suffering from severe sea sickness and losing all engine power in Poole Bay shortly after 1am on Thursday, September 25.

Once on scene along with the lifeboat crew, the team from Poole Coastguard secured the vessel to an available pontoon.

The team then carried out a welfare check of the sick crew members and assessed their condition.

With the casualties not requesting any additional medical support and their condition improving once ashore, the JRCC requested information be gathered.

The team stood down and returned to its station after all parties were content and arrangements were made for the following day.
