An esteemed brewer has chosen a Sturminster Newton pub as a top spot to enjoy a pint.
Hall & Woodhouse's head brewer, Toby Heasman, selected The Crown in Marnhull as the ideal place to drink a pint of his own beer, The Fursty Ferret, during Cask Ale Week 2025.
The event, which runs from Thursday, September 18 to Sunday, September 28, sees an estimated 10,000 pubs across the country participating, offering free try-before-you-buy samples of various ales.
Mr Heasman said: "I have chosen The Crown due to the warm welcome, the buzz of the locals at the bar and the warm hospitality that is served up with every pint."
He praised the 16th century pub for its top-quality cask ale, which includes a selection of three beers, and its rich history, from its priest hole to its role as the Pure Drop Inn in Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d’Urbervilles.
Mr Heasman added: "The cask ale is always top-notch with a selection of three beers.
"For Cask Ale Week they will have Tanglefoot, Fursty Ferret and the autumn cask seasonal RedShift."
He also commended Monty, Gemma and Ryan for running a great pub.
