Residents are being urged to sign up for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance's 5K Twilight Shift.

The event, taking place on Saturday, July 5, is set to be a celebration of the charity's 25 years of service.

Participants can walk, run or jog the 5K route around the airbase at Henstridge Airfield.

Arabella McGeoch, a participant, said: "I did the 100-mile challenge in October 2024.

"I am setting myself the challenge, even if I walk some of it."

Leanne Preuss, another participant, will be pushing her son, Lewis, in his wheelchair.

She said: "Lewis is now in a wheelchair after emergency life-saving spinal surgery last year and he is unable to do it on his own, so I am doing it with him so he can enjoy it."

The event is open to all ages, with entrance fees set at £15 for adults and £10 for under 16s.

The charity provides life-saving, pre-hospital critical care to patients in need.

It is operational for 19 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Last year, it responded to 2,909 incidents, each costing approximately £3,500.
