A ROAD was left without internet after a car “screeched” round the corner before causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Residents say they saw a black Ford Mondeo “tear” round a corner onto Malmesbury Park Road in Charminster, Bournemouth.

It then crashed into four parked cars, a metal fence and a green internet box – damaging it so much that residents are now left without internet.

A masked man was then seen running from the totalled Mondeo into the distance, Malmesbury Park Road resident Ricky said.

He said: “The Mondeo came screeching round the corner, the whole road came out as it was loud.

“It then smashed into the Mazda, sort of ricocheted off, hit the internet box, went on the pavement and has hit the Golf, Corsa and a Discovery.”

He added: “We heard it come over and I looked out of the window and there was one guy who got out of the Mondeo and ran away.

“He had a mask on, was wearing a beige hoodie from memory, was tall and maybe young.

“He took out four cars, it’s pretty bad because, they’ve been written off as well as the one he was driving – it could be his or it could be stolen.

“One of the neighbours then tried to chase him down, I phoned the police and the fire brigade came down to check for leaking oil in the cars.

“But we now have no internet, maybe the whole street. The internet box now has some bollards around it so they must be aware, but it’s not a two-minute job to fix it.”

Police officers were unable to catch the culprit of the crash on Saturday, October 19, but a spokesman said enquiries are ongoing to find him.

He said: "We received a report at 4.52pm on Saturday 19 October 2024 of a collision in Malmesbury Park Road in Bournemouth.

"It was reported that a car had collided with a number of parked vehicles and the driver had then left the vehicle and made off from the scene on foot.

"Officers attended and carried out searches of the area, but the driver was not located. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service's spokeswoman added a crew from Springbourne fire station attended to "make the scene safe".

She said the crew "used an environmental pack to deal with a spillage".

Fire crews left the scene at 5.26pm.
