POLICE officers were led to a wanted man by the smell of cannabis.
Officers from the Bournemouth South Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) were patrolling the town on Thursday when PCSO Harold detected the smell of cannabis in Bournemouth Gardens.
The smells led PCSO Harold and his colleagues to the man who was smoking it.
Checks on the Police National Computer revealed the man was wanted, and he was dealt with by officers.
Following the incident, the officers continued their foot patrol in the town and spotted a male walking around with alcohol that still had the security tag attached.
Suspecting it was stolen, the officers confiscated the alcohol. Further enquiries into this matter are ongoing.
A spokesperson for the NPT said: “Here at Bournemouth South Neighbourhood Policing Team, we believe in spending time out and about in the community, getting to know our local neighbourhoods and businesses, and working closely with partner agencies to keep our town safe.
“Your neighbourhood policing team is here, keeping Bournemouth safe, one patrol at a time.”
