DORSET Police are warning residents of a scam outside a Tesco.
Officers are urging residents to be aware of a local scam that has happened multiple times at Tesco Riverside on Castle Lane East.
A spokesperson for Bournemouth Police said: “Dorset Police have received calls recently regarding a scam that is happening at Tesco Riverside on Castle Lane East.
“People are being approached in the car park by a male in a vehicle who will then ask for directions, often it is to somewhere such as Heathrow Airport.
“The male will then offer you a thank you gift such as a watch or perfume for assisting him.
“He will then say that he needs petrol & that the petrol station will not accept Euros. He then asks for a monetary payment in return for the gift he has given to you.
“Dorset Police are urging people to be aware of this scam & not to engage with the male or accept any gifts from him.
