A NEW Turkish and Mediterranean-inspired restaurant looks set to open in Tower Park.
The owners of Turkuaz have applied to BCP Council for a trading licence to serve alcohol until midnight seven days of the week.
Turkuaz is to move into the former Chiquito unit at Tower Park, off Yarrow Road, Poole after it closed down.
Turkuaz has restaurants in Wimborne, Winchester, Newbury, Cambridge and other parts of the country.
The website for the restaurant says: “At Turkuaz, we invite you to savour the authentic taste of the Mediterranean.
“Our menu, meticulously crafted by our skilled chefs, showcases a harmonious blend of fresh, locally sourced ingredients and modern recipes.”
Meanwhile, Mexican-inspired restaurant Chiquito is owned by The Restaurant Group (TRG), the loss-making leisure business restaurant chain that also owned Frankie & Benny’s before it was sold off.
Last year, TRG posted half-year results showing it swung to a £2.3 million pre-tax profit in the six months to the start of July, compared with a £28.5 million loss in the same period a year earlier.
Earlier this week, Tower Park started an eight-month project worth £2.5m to bring a new and improved public realm to the leisure park.
Projects include improved pavements and walkways for visitors, high-level decorating and landscaping which will see much more greenery, LED lighting and extra seating.
Bosses hope the upcoming refurbishment will inject a new lease of life into the park while providing welcoming spaces for visitors to meet, enjoy and dwell.
Day's buffet restaurant, found at the entrance of Tower Park, remains empty after it mysteriously left the retail park a year ago.
Turkuaz will join a host of other restaurants at Tower Park, including Burger King, KFC, Nando's, Pizza Hut, Pizza Express and Taco Bell.
BCP Council is holding a consultation on Turkuaz's application to extend the existing licence held with the building, expected to end on October 20.
Turkuaz has been approached for more details.
