WITHDRAWN plans for a new foot and cycle bridge in Christchurch will be re-submitted by the council.
BCP Council had submitted a planning application for a three-metre-wide bridge over the River Mude, where it passes Watermans Park.
The bridge was proposed as part of a project by BCP Council’s greenspace development team, working with The Parks Foundation, to ‘revitalise’ the park.
However, the application was later withdrawn.
BCP Council said this was because the Environment Agency had asked for ‘further detailed work to provide a flood impact assessment’.
Cllr Andy Hadley, portfolio holder for climate response, environment and energy, said: “We intend to resubmit the plans to install a three-metre bridge over the River Mude in Watermans Recreation Ground, which will provide a new active travel route to the north of Somerford Estate plus a link to an off-road route to the Mude Valley Nature Reserve.
“This remains an important project for our greenspace development team in re-vitalising Waterman’s Recreation Ground, working alongside our partners at The Parks Foundation and the local community.”
