TOWER Park is to undergo a multi-million-pound refurbishment over the autumn and winter.
The leisure and entertainment park off Yarrow Road, Poole will see a £2.5m upgrade to its public realm.
Projects include improved pavements and walkways for visitors, high-level decorating and landscaping which will see much more greenery, LED lighting and extra seating.
Bosses for Tower Park have said the eight-month phased project is expected be completed in spring 2025 and will be carried out by contractor Scape.
Anne Jolliffe, Tower Park’s general manager, said: “We’re thrilled to be starting the refurbishment at Tower Park.
“The destination has been entertaining both locals and tourists since opening in 1989, and we hope to enhance the experience for our guests by improving the outdoor environment.
“Tower Park will remain open throughout the refurbishment, and we will be keeping both our guests and the wider community up to date as we progress through the planned programme.
“We can’t wait to see the results next year.”
Bosses hope the upcoming refurbishment will inject a new lease of life into the park while providing welcoming spaces for visitors to meet, enjoy and dwell.
Details of the plans include outdoor seating for restaurants, stone boulders for seating and breaking up the planting beds and landscaping in a coastal planting scheme in raised beds including large olive trees in pots.
Tower Park will remain open as usual and fully accessible throughout the refurbishment project.
A popular leisure destination with residents and visitors to Dorset, Tower Park is home to 13 leisure, activity and restaurant brands.
This includes Cineworld, Splashdown, Hollywood Bowl, Pizza Hut and Burger King – but the leisure park teased more brands are set to open in the coming months.
When it first opened in 1989, Tower Park was considered ahead of its time, being one of the first leisure developments of its kind in Europe.
It opened with a £3m ‘superclub’ nightclub The Venue owned by Richard Carr and a skating rink called Ice Trax.
Tower Park was built on 53 acres of heathland outside Poole and was conceived by Bill Riddle, whose company WH White was known locally for running the landfill site off Magna Road.
