AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a woman in Bournemouth who was admitted to hospital after having a stent placement for cancer.
Jane Davy, 56, died in hospital after being admitted in a state of confusion.
Senior coroner for Dorset, Rachael Griffin, opened the inquest into her death at Bournemouth Town Hall on September 3.
Coroner’s officer, Laura Thorne, told Dorset Coroner’s Court that Jane was born on July 4, 1967 in Eastham, London.
At the time of her death she was working as a retail assistant, was single and was living at an address in Sway Gardens, Bournemouth.
On June 6, Jane was admitted to Royal Bournemouth Hospital in a state of confusion and was immediately intubated but sadly passed away later that day.
She was formally identified by hospital staff using hospital notes and wristband.
A post-mortem examination by Dr Blahurt found Jane’s provisional cause of death to be fatal bleeding from the oesophagus due to stent placement for oesophageal cancer.
Ms Griffin adjourned the inquest until April 11, 2025, at 10am.
