A 22-YEAR-OLD has been arrested after a man was seen with a suspected firearm in Westbourne, Bournemouth.
Dorset Police received a report at around 1pm on August 31 that a man was seen in possession of a possible firearm in a vehicle in West Overcliff Drive, Bournemouth.
Armed Police were reported to have responded to the incident and, after the vehicle was located, officers found a BB gun inside the car.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 1.13pm on Saturday 31 August 2024 of a man seen in possession of a possible firearm in a vehicle in West Overcliff Drive in Bournemouth.
"Officers immediately responded and the vehicle was located. Officers found a BB gun inside the vehicle.
"Following a search, a 22-year-old man was located nearby and also found in possession of a quantity of suspected cannabis.
"He was subsequently issued with a condition caution for offences of possessing an imitation firearm in a public place and possession of a class B drug.
"There were no reports of any injuries or threats made toward members of the public."
A witness reported to have seen police use mirrors to check underneath the car.
