DEVELOPERS are looking to build a new block of flats in Bournemouth town centre.
Surrey-based Woldingham Developments could demolish two properties in Bradburne Road off Suffolk Road and replace them with 19 flats.
Each flat would be either one or two bedrooms, according to documents recently submitted to BCP Council.
Currently there is a pair of two storey detached buildings built in the 1930s, with one being two flats and the other a four-bedroom home.
Planning permission was refused in October 2017 for a proposal to demolish the existing houses and replace them with a five to six storey building of 16 flats.
Pure Town Planning, agent for the developers, said: “The proposal seeks to make better use of this very central site by redeveloping for a scheme of flats in a way which respects the surroundings, the adjoining gardens and the amenities of the neighbours.”
The developer has designed the flats as an art deco appearance to “pick up the local tradition for this architectural style”.
Pure Town Planning added: “The style is expressed in the form of the building with curved corners and curved bay windows as well as a white rendered finish with decorative detailing and the traditional large metal-framed windows.”
A decision will be made by BCP Council in due course.
