AN election of two Verderers of the New Forest will take place in November.
New Forest Verderers has announced the election will take place on Tuesday, November 26, and has encouraged residents to register their right to vote.
Voters will be able to have their say at four polling stations, situated in Lyndhurst, Lymington, Ringwood and Fordingbridge.
New Forest Verderers said: “Anyone age over 21 who occupies not less than one acre of land (0.4ha) to which is attached a right of common over the New Forest is entitled to be included in the Electoral Register.
“In the case of land occupied by more than one person, the names and addresses of all joint occupiers must be entered on separate forms. Where there is joint occupancy, the qualification is one acre per person.”
Residents must register to vote by September 17. The electoral registration form is available on the Verderers website.
The role of the Verderers is to protect and regulate the New Forest's agricultural commoning practices, conserve its landscape, wildlife and character, and safeguard a viable future for communing.
