ROAD closures for this year’s Bournemouth Air Festival have been announced.
This year’s event – also the last one – will start on Thursday, August 29 and last for three days until Saturday, August 31.
Unlike previous years, planes will not be taking to the skies on Sunday because of budget cuts and funding.
But like every year, some roads will be closed during the popular festival attended by around 600,000 people a year and there will be additional traffic restrictions.
Road closures:
The main road closure is East Overcliff Drive, where most spectators gather. Bath Road, the flyover at Pier Approach, will also be closed to vehicles.
Beacon Road, south of Kerley Road, Exeter Crescent, Meyrick Road, Russell Cotes Road will all be closed too, only available for pass holders.
Gervis Road, Grove Road, Manor Road, Meyrick Road, Sea Road, St Michael’s Road and West Hill Road can only be accessed by car if you live there.
Car parks closed:
Bath Road South Car Park, Bath Road North Car Park, Eden Glen Car Park, Winter Gardens (right hand side) Car Park and Central Car Park will all be closed, unless you have pre-booked a Premium Parking’ space.
No waiting or unloading:
You are not allowed to wait or unload in Beacon Road, Chapel Gate, East Overcliff Drive, Grove Road, King’s Park Drive, Manor Road, Meyrick Road, Russell Cotes Road, Sea Road, St Michael’s Road, West Hill Road and Westover Road.
