A COLLAPSED drain is due to cause a build-up of traffic, police say.
Dorset Traffic Cops are a section in the regional force dedicated to keeping motorists safe.
The officers helped to realign the drain but have said that there will be temporary traffic lights installed to rectify the issue.
A spokesperson for Dorset Traffic Cops said: "A35, Dorchester Road, Lytchett, there is a collapsed drain in the eastbound carriageway. One cover fell into it completely and after much effort, was realigned.
"Currently, there are cones narrowing the carriageway slightly, however, traffic is moving.
"Openreach contractors are on their way with temporary traffic lights to replace the drain - its proper name is a ‘carriageway 3 box’ (who knew!).
"During the repair, expect traffic to build up, especially when the temporary traffic lights are installed."
