MOREBUS is calling on women in the area to consider a new career as a bus driver.
The operator is hosting a bus driving event in Bournemouth to allow those interested to experience what it’s like to drive a bus in the safety of an off-road environment.
“Across the UK, women are still vastly under-represented in this field - and we want to encourage more of them to consider working within the bus industry as a driver,” said Morebus head of communications, Nikki Honer.
“We often hear from women that they don’t feel they could drive a bus. We know this is not the case. If they can drive a car, we will teach them the rest. With the right training, it’s far easier than many might think.
“Our friendly training instructors from the Morebus driving school will be on-hand all day during the event, introducing and familiarising participants with double decker buses - before giving them a spin around the expansive car park.
“We want to increase the amount of women we employ, so we have a more balanced workforce, which is why this dedicated session is especially for women.”
The event will take place in car park H at Bournemouth University between 3pm and 7pm on Thursday, August 22.
You can register for a place on the Morebus website, or simply turn up on the day.
