MOTORISTS will face ‘extra inconvenience’ with closures in both directions on the A35 Christchurch Road in Bournemouth.
The eastbound carriageway between Manor Road and Boscombe Spa Road has been closed since August 2 to allow for repairs to a collapsed sewer main.
Wesex Water advised this closure would be in place for a minimum of six to eight weeks.
Now, the company has said the westbound carriageway will also be closed in the same location from approximately 7pm on August 12 until 6am on August 15.
This is to allow for the installation of a temporary above-ground pipe while the repair is underway.
A Wessex Water spokesperson said: “We apologise for the extra inconvenience caused by closing the road in both directions.
"By installing a temporary above-ground pipe, we can ensure sewerage services for local properties are unaffected while we complete the repair.
“We thank local residents and businesses for their patience while we carry out this essential work as quickly as possible.”
