POLICE have issued warnings to motorists who have been taking risky shortcuts and driving the wrong way down a one-way street in Brockmoor.
Dudley Police carried out a road safety operation yesterday afternoon (Tuesday April 23) after residents raised concerns about motorists driving the wrong way down Norwood Road.
Officers said they offered “friendly but firm advice” to “drivers taking a potentially dangerous shortcut the wrong way down a one-way street”.
On their Facebook page, they said: “New no entry signs have been put up on Norwood Road at the junction with the High Street, but some drivers were ignoring the sign and were continuing to use the road as a shortcut.
“The risky manoeuvre was causing problems for other road users and was a source of frustration for those living within the vicinity.
“Acting on their complaints, we were on the scene during the busy school run yesterday afternoon to make sure drivers were paying heed to the newly installed signs.
“We’re pleased to say that most drivers paid attention to the signs, but we did stop one who was about to head down the road, offering him some friendly but firm advice about following instructions.
“We’ll continue to monitor the situation.”
