A MAN was taken to hospital after being repeatedly stabbed in the hand with a screwdriver.

Police were called to reports of an altercation between two men close to the YMCA gym in Westover Road, Bournemouth.

The incident, which occurred at around 1am on Monday, November 13, saw one of the men allegedly ‘stabbed repeatedly’ in the hand with a screwdriver.

Ambulance crews attended, and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

A 44-year-old man from West Berkshire was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Detectives investigating the reported assault are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
