A MAJOR Bournemouth road is set to close for a week.

The southbound side of Wimborne Road will be shut from Rushton Crescent to the traffic lights at Cemetery Junction.

The closure will be in place between Monday, November 13 and Sunday, November 19.

It is so Wessex Water can do maintenance work and change manhole covers.

In a letter to residents in the area, Wessex Water said it would be ‘carrying out essential work on the sewerage network’.

It said: “This will involve closing the road southbound to all through traffic to ensure the safety of the public and our staff.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”

It added that ‘every effort will be made to maintain pedestrian access through the works.’

A diversion will be in place while work is carried out.

This will take road users along Wimborne Road to the East Avenue Roundabout, along to the traffic lights near Buffalo bar and along Alma Road to Charminster Road, before heading back to Cemetery Junction.
