A WOMAN was allegedly sexually assaulted near Bournemouth seafront earlier today.

A police investigation has been launched following the attack at around 7.20am near East Overcliff Drive.

The victim is being supported by police and a full investigation into the incident is underway.

According to the county force, there will be an increased policing presence and officers can be approached by members of the public with information or concerns.

Commenting on the reported assault, resident Natalie Anders, 73, said: "It was about 8.30am... might be slightly after.

"My husband pointed out ‘There’s an ambulance’.

"There was an ambulance at the end and police cars.

"I could see all the activity going on with lots of police. I could see the tape.

"It wasn’t long after, the [police] came with the drone."
