A man allegedly tried to sexually assault a teenage girl outside a fish and chip shop along Bournemouth seafront. 

It is reported a man had approached two teenage girls and attempted to touch one of them inappropriately before he tried to slap the other girl. 

Both girls were able to move away from the man, which happened at around 7.30pm on Saturday, June 17 outside Harry Ramsden’s in Undercliff Drive. 

Following enquiries by police, a 30-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of attempted assault and attempted sexual assault. He has been released on police bail as the investigation continues. 

Police Constable Aimi Cowden, of Bournemouth police, said: “As part of our ongoing enquiries into this matter, I am asking for any witnesses or anyone with information regarding this incident to please come forward. 

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured any relevant mobile phone footage. 

“As part of our summer policing operation, local officers and partners agencies carry out regular patrols of the beach and surrounding area.  

“We will respond to concerns raised and will take proactive action against those involved in reported crime and anti-social behaviour.”
