A MISSING child sparked a multi-agency search on Bournemouth seafront.

Emergency services responded to reports of a missing child near Bournemouth Pier at 5pm on Thursday, June 1.

The Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Lee-on-Solent attended.

Coastguard rescue teams were also sent from Poole, Southbourne and Lymington along with the RNLI's inshore lifeboat from Mudeford.

A Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesperson said: “The child was located safe and well by Poole Bay lifeguards and reunited with their parents.”

Dorset Police also assisted in the search.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “We received a report at 5.30pm on Thursday 1 June of a missing child at Bournemouth beach. The child was subsequently located.”

The alarm for another incident on the seafront was raised at about 5.10pm.

Two people were reported drifting out to sea on an inflatable at Boscombe beach.

The helicopter helped the RNLI's inshore lifeboat from Mudeford locate them and they were recovered safely to shore.
