Two pedestrians were taken to hospital following a late-night car crash in Bournemouth town centre.

One of the two men sustained serious injuries after the collision in Exeter Road at the junction with Exeter Crescent.

Police officers, paramedics and the air ambulance responded to the crash, which took place at around 1.39am on Sunday, May 28.

The incident involved a silver Peugeot 307, police said.

A Dorset Police spokeswoman said: "The male pedestrians – both aged in their 20s – were taken to hospital for treatment.

"One of the men sustained serious injuries and his family has been informed.

"The second pedestrian was treated for minor injuries.

"A 24-year-old man from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences."

Police Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of the roads policing team, said: “I am carrying out enquiries to establish what happened and would ask any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please get in touch.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have been travelling in the area and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”
