FOODIES have flocked to Christchurch for the biggest event in the town's calendar.
Hundreds of people gathered at the Quay and Quomps on Saturday to enjoy the first day of the Christchurch Food Festival.
The annual event is centred around the town’s very best food and drinks, and is an opportunity for local businesses to showcase their produce.
This year’s festival featured an array of unique stalls, boasting street food, charcuterie, sweet treats and pancakes, as well as local breweries, and distilleries.
The ever-popular paella stall also made a return, seeing people queue patiently for servings of the Spanish classic.
Christchurch Food Festival has been running in the town for more than 20 years, and it never fails to attract huge crowds.
Husband and wife Carol and Robert Brunton were using the event to celebrate their 56th wedding anniversary. They live in Hertfordshire, but have a holiday home near Christchurch, and make sure they attend the festival every year.
Robert said: “It’s fantastic. We come every year. It’s great. It’s about the people, the atmosphere and the weather.”
Carol added: “It’s such a lovely atmosphere and everyone’s enjoying themselves.
“And today, we are celebrating 56 years together.”
Despite its name, Christchurch Food Festival isn’t limited to its food and drink offerings.
The event also hosts a whole range of entertainment, including live music on the band stand, a sheep show, and children’s activities.
Saturday featured performances from Bournemouth Musical Theatre (BMT) Productions, Twynham School Jazz Band, Sound of Soul, Jonny Phillips Trio and The Mellor Sisters.
Zoe Sutton, from Christchurch, was visiting with her family. She said: “We come here every year without fail.
"It’s great, because its something we can bring the kids to and know they’ll be fine and enjoy themselves.
“The music is great, and the weather is everything you could ask for.”
Christchurch Food Festival will continue across Sunday and Monday, and is expected to attract just as many visitors on both days.
With everything on offer, there is no doubt they will leave feeling entertained - and very full.
