TRAVELLERS have left a Christchurch park where they had set up an unauthorised camp.
The group of 16 caravans parked at Bernard’s Mead on the evening of Sunday, May 21.
BCP Council and Dorset Police have now confirmed that the group have left the site.
The police indicated that the group had left ‘by around 3pm on Wednesday, May 24.’
Following reports of the group, Dorset Police said they were liaising with the council and those present.
The council added that staff had attended the site to ‘carry out the statutory welfare and educational needs assessment’.
It said it would be monitoring the site going forward and would be supporting the group with ongoing visits.
BCP Council has recently placed soil banks at Creekmoor park and ride in Poole to prevent travellers from gaining unauthorised access.
Ringwood Town Council has also used this method at Poulner Lakes which had seen multiple camps set up across many years.
