A TEEN has avoided a fine after stealing from a shop whilst in possession of a knife.

The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before a Dorset Youth Court panel in Poole on Tuesday, March 21 having previously pleaded guilty to three offences involving bladed articles.

Two charges relate to an incident in November of last year on Stanley Street in Weymouth where the teen was found to have a black handled kitchen knife and a 'zombie axe' in his possession.

A zombie axe is a weapon that resembles a traditional axe but often with a green skull and a light green tip to the blade.

The third charge - aggravated burglary - relates to an incident on January 31 of this year when the teen entered the Co-Op on Chickerell Road, in Weymouth, and stole items to a value unknown whilst being in possession of a knife.

For the three offences, the boy was given a ten month referral order and ordered to pay a £26 victim surcharge. The knives and axes were seized and forfeited.
