A VEHICLE fire broke out along a major A-road entering Poole this morning.

Police and the fire brigade were called to reports of a vehicle fire along the A350 eastbound at around 11.30am on Friday, March 17.

Motorists experienced delays between Lytchett Minster and Poole as recovery was being arranged and firefighters dealed with the incident.

A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to a vehicle fire on the A35 at Creekmoor at 11:35am today.

"One fire engine from Poole attended and on arrival found a small car alight.

"One breathing apparatus wearer used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and no casualties were reported.

"The stop came in at 11:57am and the crew left the scene just before 12:30pm."

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "We received a report at 11.34am of a vehicle fire on the Upton Bypass, near to Upton Country Park.

"Officers attended and road closures were put in place as the fire service dealt with the incident. The vehicle was recovered and the road was cleared at around 12.30pm.

The Daily Echo traffic feed, provided by INRIX, said: "Slow traffic due to recovery work and earlier vehicle fire on A350 Eastbound between Upton Roundabout and A3049.

"Congestion to traffic diverting along The A35 towards Fleetsbridge Roundabout. Affecting traffic between and Lytchett Minster and Poole."
