A SUPERMARKET in Christchurch has been given the green light for a revamp.

Sainsbury’s in Lyndhurst Road is due to undergo a refurbishment in the coming months, seeing changes that will "improve the shopping experience for customers".

The works will include the transformation of certain departments, such as the produce and bakery sections, the installation of new branding and signage, and updates to the checkout area.

There will also be a reorganisation of the supermarket layout to make "better use of the space" and enable an increased product range.

Sainsbury’s say the upgrades will make the store more "convenient and enjoyable" for customers, whilst making it more energy efficient as part of wider sustainability plans and ambitions.

The refurbishment is expected to take place between April and July this year, with the supermarket remaining open throughout the project.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “We’re constantly investing in our store estate to help ensure we provide the best offer we can to the communities we serve.

“We hope our customers in Christchurch will enjoy the finished result and we look forward to hearing what everyone thinks of the new features in the coming months.

“We’d like to thank our customers in advance for their support and patience when we begin making upgrades to the store.”

Sainsbury’s in Christchurch will also be closing their in-store pharmacy on March 13.

It follows a decision by Lloyds Pharmacy to withdraws its services from Sainsbury’s supermarkets in response to “changing market conditions”.
