A COUPLE were the victims of an attempted knife-point robbery in Bournemouth.

The man and woman, both aged in their 70s, were in Durley Gardens at around 12.15pm on Thursday, January 26, when the incideint took place.

The male victim was approached by a man who showed him a knife and demanded money.

He did not hand anything over to the offender before the man with the knife left the scene, heading towards St Michael’s Road.

Police are appealing for witnesses or for anyone with information to come forward, after officers attended the scene and searched the area, but were unable to locate the man.

The offender is described as aged in his 40s, white, around five 5ft 10ins tall and clean shaven with short, sandy coloured hair.

He was wearing black trousers, a beige or sandy-coloured hooded top and a long, dark coloured, knee-length coat.

PC David Carmichael, of Bournemouth police, said: “This must have been a distressing incident for the couple, and we are carrying out a number of enquiries to identify the man responsible.

“I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our enquiries to please contact us.

“I would also like to ask any motorists with dashcam who were in the vicinity, or residents with home CCTV or doorbell cameras, to please check their footage for anything of relevance.”
