DRIVING down the A350 and the A338 Spur Road is a uniquely depressing experience that resembles a linear land fill site full of unsightly litter and illegal dumping.

Surely people visiting Bournemouth must be shocked by our slovenly and ignorant behaviour?

I drove through Austria, Germany and Holland recently and they were a joy to drive down.

Smooth well built roads and litter free grass verges.

Why is it that in Europe their roads are beautiful and clean?

Britain spends over a billion pounds cleaning up roadside litter.

In our economic slump this money could be spent on other more important things. It’s so sad that the country seems to have given up on itself. We need to bring back some pride.
