South Western Railway have told passengers for Bournemouth to arrange their own transport from Woking this evening, due to a national shortage of bus drivers.

In a Twitter thread, the rail operator said that they had not been able to secure enough rail replacement bus drivers during essential engineering works.

They are advising passengers that are travelling on the last three services from London Waterloo to Bournemouth, Southampton and Salisbury to get off at Woking, and arrange their own transport from there.

South Western Railway will be issuing customers refunds for any taxis they get from Woking onward.

Customers should email proof of a valid ticket and a receipt for the taxi to customerrelations@swrailway.com.

The rail operator said: “We're very sorry for the disruption to your journey this evening.”
