MEMBERS of the public have been queuing up to test out Highcliffe’s newest bakery.

BigWigs Bakery unveiled its new Highcliffe branch on Friday, seeing customers waiting outside the door for its 8.30am opening.

It is the third bakery by BigWigs in Dorset, with the company owning popular stores in Tuckton and Westbourne, known for their delicious bread, pastries, and sweet treats.

Dove Brown, one of the directors at BigWigs Bakery, said the opening day had gone “very well” and thanked customers for their support.

She told the Daily Echo: “We had a nice little queue outside this morning- it was very cute.

“The locals have been very supportive; they have been popping in every day as we’ve worked on the place to see how it’s going.

“We just want to say a big thank you to the community, for all their support in all three shops and continuously coming in and helping us.”

BigWigs Bakery was introduced in 2021 when owners Tom Bew and Dominic Brown opened the first bakery in Tuckton.

Its ‘Instagramable’ cakes saw it climb to success, and in the following year, a second branch was opened in Westbourne.

Then, in November 2022, BigWigs announced they’d be opening a third store in Highcliffe.

Like the other branches, the Highcliffe site sells a range of goods including donuts, cakes, cookies, bread, pastries, sausage rolls and pies, as well as hot drinks.

Dove said her favourite product was the homemade Nutella brownie, which suits her dairy free needs.

But the Highcliffe BigWigs Bakery is made slightly different is its design and seating layout. Dove said: “It’s based on a more grab and go kind of thing, so there’s not as much seating as out Westbourne shop, but still exactly the same bread, cakes, pastries and everything which we’ll be selling in all three shops.”
