A SECTION of road connecting Bournemouth and Poole has closed to traffic as ongoing roadworks enter the next phase.

Part of Wallisdown Road will effectively be closed for two weeks as carriageway resurfacing work takes place.

Between Monday, January 23 and Friday, January 27 from 7am to 6pm, Wallisdown Road is closed from its junction with Canford Avenue to Sunnymoor Avenue with both junctions remaining open. The junctions of Scott Road and Astbury Avenue are closed.

Then between 7am to 6pm from Monday, January 30 up to and including Wednesday, February 1, Wallisdown Road will be shut from the junction with Scott Road to 298/300 Wallisdown Road.

The junctions of Astbury Road, Sunnymoor Road, Bryant Road and Canford Road will be closed.

Speaking on Monday, January 23, a BCP Council spokesperson said: “The carriageway surfacing works have started today and are scheduled to be completed within the timeframe advertised.”

Diversions will be in place along Kinson Road, Turbary Park Avenue, Poole Lane and Ringwood Road.

And along Alder Road, Herbet Avenue and Ringwood Road.

Since October, Wallisdown Road has been closed westbound while a new wide cycle lane is built.

The road reopened over Christmas and new year with work resuming on January 3.

It is to fully reopen both ways in early February.
