A SECTION of Stony Lane remains closed due to floodwater, with local authorities unable to confirm when it will re-open.

BCP Council say they are "regularly reviewing" the road closure in place for the carriageway running under the railway bridge.

As reported, the area became swamped with floodwater following days of heavy rain and rising water levels.

The road under the bridge was closed in both directions on Monday and has remained impassable for motorists.

Several drivers have been forced to abandon their vehicles in the water after having their engines cut out.

BCP Council said that as the river level drops, they will be able to determine an anticipated time for reopening.

The Avon Causeway has also been hit by flooding in recent days.

It means that currently, there is only one main route out of Burton for residents and motorists.
