A WARNING has been issued to motorcyclists riding on nature reserves in Poole.

Wardens have issued a reminder to motorbike users that riding in Poole's heathland is both ‘illegal’ and ‘dangerous’.

In a Facebook post by Poole’s Heathland, which is managed by wardens, members of the public were asked to call out any sightings of motorcyclists in the area.

It added that every report could help to prevent people from 'getting hurt' in the future.

The post said: “To all our friendly site users on our heathlands, if you come across someone riding motorbikes on our nature reserves please contact 101 either by email or by telephone.

"It is illegal to ride motorbikes on our SSSi designated nature reserves and is dangerous to members of the public and the pets they are walking.

"If you feel that there may be a threat to life from the motorcyclist driving at high speeds or erratically then call 999.

"It may not feel like you are achieving much, but every report that comes in is monitored by the policing team who mark hotspots and can subsequently allocate resources to help catch the people riding the motorbikes before someone gets hurt."
