A MOTORCYCLIST sustained serious injuries in a crash in Sandford on Tuesday morning.
The man was taken to hospital following the single-vehicle crash in Sandford Road at 5.35am.
Police and the ambulance service attended the incident with road closures were put in place between the B3075 Morden Road and Bere Road for almost six hours.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “The rider of the motorcycle has been taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.”
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 5.35am to an incident near Wareham.
"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Poole Hospital.”
A diversion was put in place with motorists from Poole advised to use the A35 to Woodbury Cross.
Drivers were urged not to use the A351 to travel to Wareham, Swanage or Poole.
The vehicle was recovered and the road reopened at around 11.10am.
Morebus services reported delays to its 40 and X50 services.
