Has Banksy been to Bournemouth?

A painting of one of his most famous works has appeared in a quiet road in Bournemouth town centre.

The silhouette of a girl, located on a building due to be demolished in Lorne Park Road, faces Cumnor Road and has the phrase ‘make love not war’ painted in black.

The graffiti is identical to Banky’s famous piece ‘Girl with Balloon’ - with the addition of the slogan, the peace sign in the balloon and paintbrush connecting the hand and balloon.

Red has also been emblazoned in the background, with the letters ‘AM’ followed by ‘-OBBO’. It’s unclear what the first letter is.

Hampshire artist Hendog, who has painted several images in the area, including at Hengistbury Head, said he has never painted in Bournemouth and so it couldn't have been him.

Hendog added the slogan, ‘Make love not war’, is Mr Brainwash-esque.

Although it is unlikely Mr Brainwash came to Bournemouth from Los Angeles and painted on a soon-to-be demolished building in the town centre, it can’t be ruled out.
