AN investigation has been launched after a man sustained serious injuries in Boscombe.

Police believe the man, who was found injured outside an address in Southcote Road, may have been assaulted.

Officers were called to the scene at 8.36pm on Wednesday night, October 12.

The man has been taken to hospital by the ambulance service for treatment to serious injuries.

An investigation is underway led by detectives and a cordon is in place at the address to allow for an examination of the scene.

Residents on Thursday spoke of their shock following the incident.

One resident who was first on the scene said: "I'm not shockable but I was very shocked. It was horrible, I couldn't sleep last night."

Police have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them along with anyone who may have CCTV footage.

Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen, of Bournemouth CID, said: “Following enquiries, it is believed the man may have been assaulted and an investigation is being carried out to establish the full circumstances of what actually occurred.

“I am really keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or any suspicious activity in the area around the relevant time, as they may have important information to assist our enquiries.

“I would also like to ask residents in the vicinity to please check their home CCTV systems and for motorists travelling in the area to review their dashcams for any footage that may assist the investigation.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 20.38hrs on Wednesday 12 October to an incident in Boscombe.

"We sent two operations officers, two double-crewed land ambulances, and two critical care cars.

"We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.”
