TRAIN passengers travelling from Dorset to Hampshire and London this weekend are set for prolonged journeys and disruption.

Some railway lines in the Southampton Central area will be closed all weekend for maintenance work.

With Cherries taking on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, October 15, supporters’ plans could be affected.

Fans travelling from any stations west of Bournemouth will be able to get a train to Bournemouth Railway Station before getting a replacement bus service to Southampton Airport Parkway and then board a train to the capital.

Those east of Bournemouth would need to get a replacement bus to Southampton Central and board a train from there.

South Western Railway has warned that all London Waterloo to Weymouth services will terminate at Southampton Central on Saturday.

Fast bus replacement services will run between Southampton Airport Parkway, Bournemouth and Poole, while slower buses will run between Southampton Central, Bournemouth and Poole.

A revised service will run between Bournemouth, Poole and Weymouth. Brockenhurst to Lymington services will not run. Buses will run between Southampton Central and New Milton via Brockenhurst and Lymington.

On Sunday, October 16, there will be more disruption.

London Waterloo to Weymouth services will call additionally at Eastleigh and will terminate at Southampton Airport Parkway.

London Waterloo to Poole via Eastleigh services will be not divide at Eastleigh as normal and instead just run to Portsmouth. These services will not divide at Eastleigh and will continue to Portsmouth only.

Fast buses will run between Eastleigh, Southampton Airport Parkway, Bournemouth and Poole and between Southampton Central, Christchurch and Bournemouth. Buses will run between Eastleigh and Bournemouth via Southampton Central.

A revised service will run between Bournemouth, Poole and Weymouth. Brockenhurst to Lymington services will not run.

Buses will run between Eastleigh and New Milton via Southampton Central, Brockenhurst and Lymington.

The line closures are for maintenance work to be carried out around Southampton, while Network Rail engineers are renewing wheel timbers on the Passford Road Bridge between Brockenhurst and Lymington.
