POLICE are hoping they can speak with the rider of a pale-coloured moped which they believe witnessed a crash in Christchurch that left a motorcyclist dead.

The male motorcyclist, from Bournemouth and aged in his 40s, was riding a black Kawasaki motorbike when it collided with a grey Suzuki Swift in Barrack Road at the junction with Avenue Road on Friday, September 30 just before 9am. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers would also like anybody with information, including witnesses or those with dashcam footage, to come forward.

Police Constable Max Vallance, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who sadly died and our investigation to establish the full circumstances of this collision remains ongoing.

“I am appealing to any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please get in touch.

“From our enquiries, we understand there was a pale-coloured step-through moped that was in the vicinity and stopped at a nearby bus stop after the collision. I would be keen to speak to the rider as they may have information to assist our enquiries.

“I would also like to repeat our plea for anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage to please contact us.”
