PROTESTORS congregated in Bournemouth Square to say 'enough is enough' as energy prices and the cost of living soars.

Dozens of people held placards, signs, and voiced their anger at the large hike in living costs and energy prices in Bournemouth Square on Saturday, October 1.

Organised by the BCP branch of the Trades Union Congress, protestors of all ages and backgrounds could be seen in the Square from 12pm to 1pm.

Speeches and chants were delivered in an effort to "make some noise" to fight against the cost of living crisis.

At the protest, Bournemouth resident Rosie Edwards, 59, expressed her worries about what will happen to those who cannot afford to stay warm this winter.

Rosie said: "It's about time that we stop what the Tories are doing, people are already unable to feed their families and can't afford to turn their heating on.

"We are noticing over the past few days how much colder it is getting and it's only going to get worse and I fear for those marginalised groups at the bottom who are going to really struggle this winter.

"If nothing is done people are going to die and that's the reality of it.

"Our country has become overtaken by greed, we need to reverse our policies and reinvest in everybody and not the top one per cent."

President of BCP's Trades Union Congress, Neil Duncan-Jordan said: "We need to get everyone talking about this, we can't sit back and let it happen.

"If you want to do something about it join a union, come down to protests, and make sure you make some noise, the more people that take action the more likely things are to change."

David Stephenson, 61, a specialised support worker for the NHS from Bournemouth attended the protest.

He has witnessed "first-hand" how worn out NHS workers are and believes they deserve to be treated better.

David said: "I have had enough of understaffing at the hospital, the NHS staff deserve better pay to reflect their hard work.

"The government have got it all wrong, we all need to stand up and make our voices heard.

"I've seen first-hand how worn out NHS staff are, so I'm standing alongside the NHS as a whole today to make our voices heard.

"As a nation, we deserve better."
