AFTER 30 years of business, the owners of a well-known Indian takeaway have thanked all of their "much loved" customers as they announce that "it's time to go".

After opening in 1993, the owners of the Eastern Eye takeaway in Christchurch Road, Boscombe, have announced they will be hanging up their aprons and closing the business to retire.

Brothers Ain and Somsul Uddine are "sad" to be closing but believe the time is right given the "extreme pressures" businesses are now facing with rising energy costs.

Ain said: "The way things are at the moment, running a business is not easy, when I started it was really good but now businesses are under such extreme pressures with energy costs and everything.

"I have been in the catering business more or less all my life and I'm nearly 70 now so I think it's the right time to go."

The family said they are very sad to say goodbye to their customers, who they will "miss greatly".

Ain added: "We have so many much-loved customers who we are going to miss greatly because the customers were my favourite thing about working.

"It was lovely to meet so many different and new people.

"It made the job enjoyable because it was like a social life and a job in one.

"I feel happy in a way because I have so many nice memories but obviously I am going to miss it."

Now that Eastern Eye is closed, Ain is going to take a well-earned holiday before deciding what he will do next.

He said: "Me and my wife are going to go away for four weeks on holiday to Bangladesh where I am originally from.

"When I am back I will work out what I'm going to do next but I am still quite active so I will keep myself busy."
